Absolvement Soul Tree Progression

The Soul Tree is Absolvement’s answer to permadeath despair. When a character finally exhausts its lives, you do not walk away empty—you bank Soul Fragments and invest them into permanent account-side upgrades for the next run. In Roblox alpha / early access, the Tree is the difference between “I got unlucky” and “my next character is measurably safer.”

What Soul Fragments represent

Fragments are the meta currency of failure done right. Better runs—and sometimes simply longer runs—tend to yield more meaningful Fragment income, but the important habit is spending with a plan. Dumping Fragments into random shiny nodes because they sound cool creates uneven characters that still die to the same telegraph.

Think of the Tree as insurance you buy between lives of different characters. It does not remove the three-life tension; it softens the learning curve so practice sticks.

Spending order for new accounts

Use this early priority stack until your clear rate stabilizes:

1. Survivability and recovery — anything that extends reaction time, mitigates chip damage, or improves consumable value.
2. Resource quality — nodes that improve shard/Relic/Potential odds or dungeon yield efficiency.
3. Combat comfort — modest damage or Skill cost help after you stop dying to basics.
4. Specialty branches — Race/Sin synergy luxuries and niche Affix enablers.

If you keep failing mid-dungeon packs, you do not need more boss damage. You need time and forgiveness. Cross-train with Combat & Parry while you buy those nodes.

How the Tree interacts with loadouts

Absolvement is classless: Skills, Potentials, Relics, Affixes, Race, and Sin all stack. Soul Tree buffs are the quiet layer underneath. A Theft-friendly starter Sin plus a forgiving Race plus Tree defenses will outperform a Pseudoprophecy challenge character with greedy damage nodes every time. Relics found in dungeons are run-to-run power. Tree nodes are career power. Do not confuse a lucky Relic streak with a finished Tree plan—see Builds for temporary versus permanent power.

Wipe hygiene

Before you resign a dying character emotionally: spend remaining lives only if the expected Fragment/loot value beats a safe exit fantasy (often it does not); note which rooms killed you; return to the hub Tree immediately and spend; rebuild with one intentional change (Sin, Affix load, or route), not five random ones.

Hub landmark: Tree and unlocks

The Soul Tree sits in the main hub fantasy space players use as home. Nearby landmarks matter for unlocks—most importantly the bat statue used in the Ancient Ritual for Nespin. You do not need Nespin to spend Fragments well, but you should learn the hub layout early so quest turn-ins do not eat session time.

Party play and Fragment mindset

Online co-op allows parties of up to five. Coordinate expectations: some players want deep Affix greed, others want safe Fragment banking. Misaligned goals create unnecessary wipes. Align before the delve using Party & Co-op.

Alpha caveats

Amorian Skies can rebalance Tree costs, node effects, or Fragment rates during alpha. After patches, skim Alpha Patch Notes and revisit whether your always-buy-first rule still holds. There are still no promo codes dumping free Fragments—see Codes Hub.

Anti-patterns

• Buying damage-only paths while still dropping to basic elites
• Ignoring Tree spends for multiple wipes without a target node
• Pairing Pseudoprophecy with an unfinished Tree
• Choosing Harmonite / Calvar beginner Races and blaming the Tree
• Using scripts to farm Fragments while risking bans—read Scripts Hub if you go there anyway

Session template

1. Plan a dungeon goal (practice parries, farm a biome, attempt a boss).
2. Run with Affixes you can actually carry.
3. Wipe or extract with notes.
4. Spend Fragments on the next bottleneck.
5. Open Getting Started only if foundational choices were wrong; otherwise jump to the sibling guide that matches the failure.
