Absolvement Getting Started Guide

Absolvement throws you into a permadeath roguelite dungeon crawler where every life matters and every wipe still feeds the long game. You are not chasing a finished full launch—this is Roblox alpha / early access from Amorian Skies—so expect systems to shift. Your job in hour one is simpler: pick a survivable Race and Sin, learn the life economy, and leave each failed run with Soul Fragments for the Soul Tree.

The three-life contract

Characters carry a limited life pool (three lives is the mental model players use in alpha). When those lives are gone, the run ends and progress converts into Soul Fragments. Those Fragments buy permanent buffs on the Soul Tree. Treat death as expensive tuition, not as a soft reset. If you burn all three lives on a greed chest after a clean clear, you donated a character for nothing.

Character creation priorities

You get multiple character slots (three free slots are the common alpha setup; extra slots may cost Robux). Race and Sin are the two choices that rewrite early difficulty.

Race (keep it simple)

Early Races should not demand perfect movement or punish grouping mistakes. Avoid Harmonite and Calvar as beginners—their downside profiles punish habits new players still have. Prefer Races that forgive mistimed rolls and crowded rooms. When you are ready for a mobility-focused unlock later, use How to Unlock Nespin rather than forcing an unlock Race on day one. For rankings, open the Races Tier List and the Race Advisor.

Sin (Theft-friendly starters)

Sins brand your character with a weakness that shapes difficulty. Theft is a strong starter Sin because its pressure is manageable while you learn parries. Pseudoprophecy is a bad beginner Sin—it collapses your life economy (effectively a one-life trap) and turns every mistake into an instant wipe. Pride is another comparatively mild option some players prefer. Confirm rankings on the Sins Tier List and walk decisions with the Sin Advisor.

Affixes and burden

Affixes raise personal difficulty for reward. On first characters, take the lightest Affix load you can. Alpha still rewards learning enemy telegraphs more than min-maxing Affix greed. Revisit Affixes after you can consistently parry mid-dungeon packs—see Combat & Parry.

Controls you must memorize on day one

ActionDefaultHabit
ParryFTime against telegraphs; do not mash
Roll / evadeQEscape after a miss or to reposition
ConsumablesVHold to use potions/items on hotbar
MapMOrient before opening unknown doors

Full binding notes live on Controls. If you play with friends, parties support up to five players—read Party & Co-op before stacking Affixes together.

First dungeon loop

  1. Enter a dungeon with a clear goal: learn rooms, not force a boss kill.
  2. Watch weapon pacing—rapier and katana reward timing; heavy weapons punish greed swings.
  3. Assign Skills to the hotbar early; shards unlock more Skills as you combine progress.
  4. Use consumables before panic, not after you are already one hit from dead.
  5. Leave with lives remaining whenever the map turns chaotic. A living character farms better than a dramatic wipe.

Random layouts mean you cannot memorize a fixed path. You can memorize threat language: wind-ups, AoE floors, mage casts, and elite modifiers. Dungeon Farming expands route discipline once you stop dying to the same mistakes.

What to ignore in hour one

  • Promo codes — none redeem yet; see Codes Hub.
  • Scripts as a crutch — autofarm tools exist on the Scripts Hub but carry ToS / ban risk and will not teach telegraphs.
  • Nespin rush — unlock when farming Bloody Masses is comfortable, not when you still mis-parry basic packs.
  • Pseudoprophecy challenge runs — save them for when Soul Tree investment softens the blow.

Progression after the first wipe

Open the Soul Tree and spend Fragments on survivability and resource quality before flashy damage branches. Then rebuild with the same Race/Sin pair if it felt fair, or swap using the advisors if the downside taught you nothing. When Skills and Relics start dropping consistently, move to Builds. Boss rooms deserve their own study on Bosses.

Sibling guides to keep open

Keep the Guides Hub bookmarked so patch drift does not strand you on outdated social posts.

A realistic first-session checklist

  • Race chosen without Harmonite / Calvar beginner traps
  • Sin is Theft-friendly (or similarly mild)—never Pseudoprophecy
  • Affixes kept light
  • Parry F, Roll Q, Consumables V, Map M confirmed
  • At least one deliberate retreat with lives remaining
  • Soul Fragments spent intentionally after the first wipe
  • Party size agreed if playing co-op (max five)

Absolvement rewards calm players. Survive long enough to learn, convert wipes into Soul Tree power, and only then chase harder Affixes, boss clears, and unlock Races.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Absolvement questions.

What Race should beginners pick in Absolvement?

Choose forgiving early Races and avoid Harmonite and Calvar until you understand combat. Use the Race Advisor and Races tier list for rankings.

Is Theft a good starter Sin?

Yes—Theft is widely recommended as a manageable starter Sin. Avoid Pseudoprophecy, which wrecks your life economy.

Do I lose everything on wipe?

The character run ends, but you earn Soul Fragments to spend on the Soul Tree for the next character.

Is Absolvement fully released?

No. It is alpha / early access on Roblox. Systems can change; treat guides as current-alpha advice.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Online co-op supports parties of up to five. Align Affixes and loot rules before deep delves.
